A few questions about the Atkins Diet?
a) Let's face it, despite all the criticism Atkins has proved to work and to give results. I understand that what you do is pretty much eliminate your primary fuel source leaving your body with no choice but burn its own fat through Ketosis. What I'm a little skeptical about is the fact that people can eat as much as they want and still get results. I've done some research and I found that what happens is that this diet makes you feel fuller faster, therefore eating less because of the high protein content. So it would be a matter of amount of calories and not of type of calories. You know, it's weird because I tried it and I was really eating a lot and I was still losing fat. So what happened to those extra calories? I'm a little confused here....b) The reason I could not stay on this diet was because I practice a lot of sports, especially swimming which requires quite a lot of energy. So that's why I switched to a variation called CARB CYCLING, which consists of going low carb but before your metabolism goes down you reintroduce healthy carbs again. I also try to avoid bad fat (the ones Atkins allows). Is this a good approach to burn fat and build muscle for a person like me? THANKS

I have a question about the low carb diets both Atkins or south beach?
My question is has anyone or known anyone that went on either one of these diets and stayed several months on phase 1? In the beginning you lose between 10 to 12 pounds in the first two weeks. I know a lot is water weight. My question is what is the average weight lost per week after the first two weeks are over. Why aren't Atkins Advantage bars allowed on the South Beach Diet plan?
It's the same principal for both diets....keeping your blood sugar stable. The Atkins bars only have 2g of net carbs...so why are they off limits on South Beach? Is it because they want you to buy South Beach bars??Question #12:

Diabetic on Atkins diet?
Im a Type I diabetic on an insulin pump. Ive had pretty good control of my diabetes and am very active. Lately I have completely plateaued in my weight loss and have not had any success loosing any more weight exercise, calorie counting or even with Jenny Craig (other than about 5lbs).So I figured I would give Atkins a try. Of course as a diabetic a low carb diet is essential. I just wanted feedback from other diabetics who may have tried it.
Normally I take between 32 - 48 units daily but since beginning Atkins its dropped to 27 which is mostly from my basal.
Of course I still need some insulin. Even if you cut out carbs completely your body releases stores of it or makes new glucose from protein via gluconeogenesis.

I've always been a fan of atkins because its the only diet I can do that I lose t he weight, and keep it off, even if I stop and go back to bad eating.My biggest problem is I don't eat meals, I'm more of a snacker. So its something small here or there. I bought some sugar free jellos mainly for when I'm craving something sweet, but I noticed, I'm eating like 2-3 of them a day. So according to the facts...thats like 30 cal and 0-3carbs. (the box says 0 carbs, but if your eating 2-3..u see my point hopefully)
Doesn't sound bad, but I'm wondering if eating that much is going to mess me up. I eat other stuff too, salads, I get veggie trays to snack on etc.
