Question #1:
can anyone suggest a week diet plan that works?
Question #2:
What can I eat and what exercise can I do to get healthy and put on some weight?
Hi ! I am a 26 year old man and have been thin all my life. Currently I'm 5'10, 128lbs. Its getting to the point now where I'm also unhealthy as I don't feel I eat right and I barely get to exercise. I seem to be getting sick and at the doctor at least once a month - at this rate I fear my future health is going to be quite a mess. Can someone please help me with a little bit of guidance?Exercise - I need a daily or bi-daily routine that isn't extremely time consuming. Something to help me look healthier and more importantly, get stronger. I feel right now if someone were to jump me, I probably wouldn't stand a chance at fighting back (not that I think someone is after me haha but every person should be able to defend themselves should they ever need to). Anything requiring simple weights might be best but I should also mention I have access to a Bowflex Elite machine. I can't really afford a gym membership so that machine might be my best bet if things like sit ups and push ups won't suffice.
Diet - Right now my diet is TER-I-BLE. Its not that I can't afford to buy food, I just think I buy the wrong KINDS of food and also don't know how to prepare them. I need to know what to buy and how much of it/when I should be eating what and all that. I also should mention that I'm hypoglycemic and I don't eat well enough to take care of that. But as I understand it, hypoglycemics are supposed to have diets that are high in protein and eat every 3 hours, so maybe that's a blessing in this situation.
If anyone can offer any advice, websites for building routines or diets I'd REALLY appreciate it. This is a last ditch effort on getting myself into better shape. I'm getting depressed and frustrated hearing from everyone (including my girlfriend) that I'm "So skinny" or how I'd be easily beaten up in any situation. I really don't know where else to turn. Please help! : (
Question #3:
Pets that are herbivorous and or restrictively ormnivorous?
I'm looking for suggestions of pets that I don't have to feed live food (example: mice, crickets, meal worms) to, or dead food to for that matter (canned crickets=no). What I mean by restrictively omnivorous, is that I don't mind if they have a certain pellet (or similar) that I could give them that would make up some/all of the protein they need in their diet. I'm not willing to give a pet a "mashed cricket cube" or something, so don't even recommend it as you will be ignored. I already have a rabbit and plenty of fish (Nope, this isn't all I have, i'm just listing a couple) So you don't really need to put them down. Feel free to recommend something because you have one, a friend has one, or even if you've just merely heard of it. Mammals, Amphibians, Reptiles, Marsupials, (etc), they're all perfectly fine except for Avians, unfortunately. I had a cockatiel in the past and basically I was told I cannot have another bird for the duration that I am living here (She was very loud). Anyways, I would love to hear about some new animals I haven't come across yet, submit away~!Forgot to mention, size isn't really an issue, as long as it isn't MASSIVELY large, like.... A whale.... Haha...
Also, I've already read about sugar gliders, and unfortunately I can't have one because they're illegal in massachusetts >:o Anyways, that's all I wanted to mention.
angelicat, thank you for asking- actually, no i'm not really comfortable with feeding chicken to something, as I have pet chickens of my own and it would make me feel horrible; that and i'm a vegan so i'm not usually in the house when others are cooking meat. Thank you, though! (also, I love those pygmy hedgehogs- i'm just not sure if they are legal here or not)
CF_ They don't necessarily have to be house pets- my chickens, ducks and pygmy goat are outside year round (yes they have access to a heater).
Question #4:
Ok... Potty training question?! I need some help!?
So my son was potty trained through the day at 2.5 was mostly dry at night by 3. Had a couple nights a week, wet, but I had decided to stop buying pullups. Then I got pregnant and he regressed. Going through this I wanna be the baby stage. So im almost due and lately (the last couple weeks) hes been dry again, 3 to 4 nights a week, so I was super excited. Then all of a sudden the last 4 nights hes wet his pull up so much he leaking through. I have had to wash his sheets 4 times this week. Nothing has changed in his diet or routine. I really have no idea what has changed. I dont even truly mind that hes still wetting his pull up however its went from being barely wet to leaking through. I dont know whats going on... Wondered if anyone else knew! I really wanted him completely potty trained by the time the baby came, but im having no luck and I know he was potty trained (through the day) fairly early, but its been a long time now and I dont know what else to do.
Last night I even woke him at 3 and made him go pee and he still leaked through... Anyone?!
He only has one drink in the evening and thats with dinner.
If I woke him at 3 and he still leaked through, what would waking him earlier help? I am not being a smart ass, honest question I was thinking I should wake him again and later... So that confused me!
I wake up usually 1,3 & 5 to pee... So I was thinking of waking him at 3 & 5 tonight
Question #5:

Noticed bones in cat's feces?
I recently started feeding my cats the raw diet. Yesterday I gave them raw chicken wings and they most of the bones. Today I noticed one of my cats had loose stool and there was some bones in it and they were of course tiny pieces. Should i be worried? Do you think I should start cutting up their bones into smaller pieces so they chew it all?Oh man. You're supposed to feed bones. Maybe I should have asked an expert.
Question #8:
Puppy/dog food question?
I have a 7 month old Kelpie puppy who I rescued after her owners dumped her with a broken leg. First off I know Kelpie's are highly active dogs, and I try to walk her at least twice daily (and not just short walks either, because of her broken leg she still limps so the vet says not to run her too much) and I always make time to go out and play with her whenever I can. I am also taking her to obedience lessons at the moment and so far she is going well, but she is still hypo as ever. My trainer says I need to get her on a low protein diet because even being Kelpie she is over active. What food do you recommend that is low protein? Or something else to calm her down? I know most Puppy foods are high protein, but is there anything out there? At the moment she is on Purina one Puppy food which has 28% protein. (I did have her on Innova, which I know is one of the best foods out there but she was just the same on that as the purina and as a student at college I couldn't afford it) I just need some suggestions please. Thanks guys!Question #9:
What can I do to lose weight?
I am a 19 year old single mother who is currently enrolled in college full-time. I am about 5' 3" and I weigh 149 lbs. I am not happy with this weight at all. Three years ago I was at 102 and even though that was way too skinny I would like to be at least 120-125 by time summer hits. I am not a very lazy person but I do not have a job so those expensive gym memberships and diet programs just aren't for me. I need to do something that I can do after homework and after my daughter is in bed. I would also like to start eating alot healthier because I will admit that I do not wat very healthy. Please if you have any tips or suggestions that might help me lose this 25 lbs, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks :)
Question #10:
Why am I unable to lose weight?
I am 22 years old, 5'5" and 230 lbs. This is the most I have ever weighed in my life. I have been tracking my diet and exercise meticulously for about a month straight now and cannot seem to lose a single pound despite that. I started out eating 1400 calories a day and doing yoga 5 days a week, but was told that was too few calories for someone of my size. I decided to go up to 1600 calories and started doing 30-40 minutes of intense (for me) cardio 3 times a week on a treadmill. The treadmill estimated I burned about 275 calories doing this on those days, so I added 275 to the total number I ate on those days. Mathematically speaking, this should cause me to lose at least 2 pounds a week according to my calculations. However, I haven't lost a single pound. The only thing anyone can suggest is that I get my thyroid checked, but I have recently had it checked and that is not the problem.I am always honest with myself about what I eat, and haven't eaten more than 1800 calories on a particular day. I measure everything carefully, so there's not really a chance that I am incorrectly counting the calories in what I eat and drink. If you know of anything else that could cause this, please feel free to share (unless it is an advertisement for some product). Thanks
PLEASE someone answer who understands anything at all about nutrition and how to calculate a BMR!
Okay, since this seems pretty important, my basal metabolic rate is 1857.6. That is how many calories I would burn if I were to stay in bed all day doing nothing. So considering that I do get up and do things during the day, plus work out... is there anyone on here who knows anything?
I'm sorry if that came off as rude. I don't mean for it to, but let me explain myself. In addition to my bmr, the estimated number of calories someone of my age, height, and weight burns per day is 2,839. This means that in order for me to lose 2 pounds per week, I would have to eat 1000 calories less than that per day, or 1,839. I am eating less than that. If I were to eat 1200 calories per day, assuming that would not send my body into starvation mode, I would theoretically lose 3.28 pounds per week, which is 1.28 pounds more than the maximum generally healthy amount of weight to lose in a week.
1 pound of fat is 3500 calories. that times 2 is 7000. That divided by 7 is 1000. that is how I get that number.
So by this theory, I should actually be eating about 1800, so please stop telling me I am eating too much, and don't give advice on nutrition on here because I have seen a lot of posts from insecure, young, impressionable girls. :( I would hate for them to take you seriously.
Question #11:
Should I re-hydrate my cat's dry food?
My cat has been throwing up, but she only does it when I feed her dry food in the morning. The vomit looks like the food isnt even chewed properly. I have decided that I am going to do a wet/dry mix diet. This is because the ingredients on the dry food are sketchy. Would a canned salmon and re-hydrated dry cat food (purina) be good? Should I cut the dry food out entirely. She does great on the wet foods.I figured it out. I soaked the dry food in water and it tripled in size! I think this has been happening in her belly and there is no room to after it bloats her. I am now going to mix her dry food with water and blend that with wet.
Question #12:
Best gym routine or workout advice to get toned faster?
I just joined a gym. I'm a 25 yr old female and at a healthy weight. I'm just out of shape. Any tips to help me tone up more quickly? Work out or diet tips? ( no supplements)Question #13:
Kosher foods....Whats the point in them?
I can understand that you might restrict your diet THESE days becaus of religeous beliefs or restraints, but thousands of years ago I don't see the point or the practical purpose. How could Jews way back then, with no country to call teir own, being chased after and perscuted by the romans and whoever, put rules on food that was okay to eat??I'm serious here so please bare with me as I think its a valid question.
You would think that they would cook and eat whatever they had available to them, like the American Indian. The Indians ate what they had and all of it, didn't waste any meat and even used the bones for tools or needles to sew. You would think out of practicallity the ancient Hebrews would do the same, right?
And I mean no disrespect and though I believe in God, I do not, or have not found a particular religeon so I have no real idea of this. So anyway, thats all I have. I'm posting here because if I post in the Religeon area, I'll get a bunch of Atheists telling me there is no God and whatever.
Long question I know but I've been wondering this for years....tonight I'm bored. So thank you and please, educated answers only...
To simplify, you'd think that Hebrews would be survivalists and not restrict what they could eat.
Thank you Aimee....Thats exactly what i was curious about, the why behind it all. It makes sense like that...nothing more that putting faith in your food. I thought it was way more complicated.

Does this make me lose weight faster?
I think I'm fat. 99.99% of girls think their fat. So I guess it's kinda normal. But anyways I've been doing a diet that's supposedly called "The Atkinz Diet". All you eat is meat(any kind), eggs, cheese, and for drinks just water. I heard you could lose 10lbs in 1 week. TRUE? ANd I do know I don't have a tyroid problem or any troubles losing weight.P.S. Please don't leave a comment "You have to keep a well balanced diet. Eat lots of nutrition..." blah blah blah. Srry!
Thanks!

So, I've been on a diet for the past few weeks, it's been more exercise, but tonight my mom bought Salt and Vinegar chips, my weakness, I caved and ate almost the whole bag. (I threw the rest away) and now I feel like shit. What should I do? I'm not going to worry about it too much, but right now, I have such a bad stomach ache. Question #19:
Basketball motivational help PLEASE!!!!?
I want nothing more than to play basketball at the collegiate level but whenever I bring the idea up to other people they laugh. I do need to lose weight but I believe God put a dream in me and I feel every morning that I am wasting my life away, but at the same time I feel that maybe those people are right and I stand no chance. I am transferring to Michigan State in the fall and it has been my dream since I can remember to play there. What does everyone here think about this situation? Should I go for it even if it means losing friends because they don't believe in me? And also any diet and fitness tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Question #20:
Will this help me lose weight?
First off, I'll have to tell you a little about my diet. It's been this way my whole life. I eat at least one of these things once a day, usually more:Pizza
French Fries/Tater Tots
Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwhich
Hamburger
...every single day. That's basically the only meal-worthy food I've eaten my entire life. I won't even eat other versions of those foods like steak, baked/mashed potatoes or anything like that. I'm very afraid for my life, what with the way I eat and such. It's like an addiction and a fear combined and because I haven't really experienced health problems yet (I'm 20) it seems almost like the calm before the storm. It would also be nice to drop some pounds. The last time I weighed myself I was 230 lbs and I think I'm 5' 10'' or 11''.
I tried some Perdue Baked Chicken Nuggets today and actually loved them. My question is, If I were to stop eating the stuff mentioned above regularly and started eating the nuggets, would I lose weight? It seems almost like a certainty but I've heard that even though white meat is better for you than red meat, the protein in the chicken would maybe make me gain weight. Can someone help me figure this whole mess out as well?
